What is an SBC?
Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) is a standardized document that provides a summary of the insurance coverage details and how you and the plan would share the cost for covered services. The SBC is only a summary. For more details on certain coverage details, we recommend calling the carrier directly. Typically their number is on the back of your ID card.
Below is an example of a health insurance SBC. You will see “Important Questions”, “Answers” and “Why This Matters” as headers. SBCs do a good job explaining certain questions and situations.
