OSHA Announces Top 10 Most Frequently Cited Violations of FY 2024

Annually OSHA releases the Top 10 Most Frequently Cited Violations. For FY 2024, the top 10 are:

  1. Fall Protection – General Requirements (29 CFR 1926.501)
  2. Hazard Communication (29 CFR 1910.1200)
  3. Ladders (29 CFR 1926.1053)
  4. Respiratory Protection (29 CFR 1910.134)
  5. Lockout/Tagout (29 CFR 1910.147)
  6. Powered Industrial Truck “Forklifts” (29 CFR 1910.178)
  7. Fall Protection – Training Requirements (29 CFR 1926.503)
  8. Scaffolding (29 CFR 1926.451)
  9. Personal Protective Equipment – Eye and Face Protection (29 CFR 1926.102)
  10. Machine Guarding (29 CFR 1910.212)

Employers are encouraged to use this list to focus on compliance gaps within their respective operations and identity a corrective action plan before OSHA arrives.

OSHA will publish a more in-depth breakdown of the most frequently cited standards in April.  The breakdown will include a listing of the most frequently cited standards in the construction and general industries. Regulations and data can be found on OSHA’s website
